Abstract
With the paradigm shift to the hyper-connected society, smart healthcare has emerged as a key factor for building cost-effective and sustainable healthcare systems. Smart healthcare can take a considerable amount of time to show its effectiveness, and resistance to technology and society may arise from mutual heterogeneity. However, it is still difficult to understand the dynamic characteristics of the majority of studies because they analyzed the phenomenon of policy and technology intervention based on a linear perspective. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the nonlinear dynamics of smart healthcare applied to chronic disease management by using dynamic simulation and to suggest strategic implications. The research method used system dynamics to utilize dynamic simulation. First, the structure between variables was created by Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) and converted into a Stock Flow Diagram (SFD) for quantitative analysis. Macro data and estimates were used as variables in the study, and the experiments were simulated using a hypothetical scenario. The results showed that the faster the intervention of smart healthcare service, the higher the initial participation rate of the service, the more preventive service than the treatment, the more intervention in the complex disease than the single disease, In conclusion, in order to effectively manage chronic diseases by applying smart healthcare, it is important to persevere the time required for innovation and to understand the non-linear dynamics of technological and social co-evolution.
